Senior / Lead Software Engineer
Panopto is a video capture, search, and sharing platform that gives users a powerful way to broadcast, record, and discover expert knowledge. We are transforming how people find and manage multimedia information, from capturing the collected output of the world’s top universities to giving corporations a way to share their employees’ best ideas to letting individual experts reach worldwide audiences. Candidates for full-time engineering positions should have several of the following attributes:
- Strong proficiency with C++, C#, or Objective C (or all three!)
- Solid fundamentals in multithreaded and message-based programming

Experience shipping products using core technologies:
- UI Engineers: Cocoa (OSX) or Silverlight/WPF (Win), HTML5, jQuery, strong UI design skills
- Systems engineers: Parallel-processing systems, large-scale database/storage systems, relational databases, LINQ and SQL
- Video Engineers: DirectShow/WMF or QT/QTKit/AVFoundation
At least one of:
- BS or graduate degree in Computer Science from a top-tier university and software industry experience
- Two or more years of experience as a software engineer with a major software company (Microsoft, Google, Apple, Amazon, etc)
- Development experience in multiple product cycles with a “Joel Test”-class organization
Outside Sales Consultant
Panopto, Inc. is a leading provider of rich media knowledge capture and management solutions for the corporate, government and healthcare markets. An SAAS product suite built by leading scientists from Carnegie Mellon University and Microsoft, Panopto's innovative solutions harness the power of today's video capture, streaming, searching, and archiving technologies.
Panopto is expanding very rapidly and is growing its sales force accordingly. We seek highly motivated and experienced sales professionals to help drive our position in the corporate markets. Panopto's "Sales Consultant" is focused primarily on new customer acquisition and growing usage with existing customers. Typical sales are "enterprise" and require door opening and closing capabilities at the VP and C-levels.
Candidate Requirements:
- Strong record of success and proven ability to sell enterprise solutions.
- Exemplary presentation skills and the ability to demo products live, on-line, on-the-fly, and in front of large audiences.
- Experience with CRMs, proposal/bid writing, and resourceful communication abilities.

- Base Salary: $50 to $80K, depending on experience
- Commissions: Paid monthly. Budgeted to pay $80,000 annually @target, but are uncapped and provide unlimited upside opportunity.

Internal Sales Representatives
Panopto, Inc. is a Pittsburgh/Seattle start-up working with enterprise-scale video capture, management, and search technologies. Founded in 2007, Panopto is based on technology developed at Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Computer Science and led by veterans of the Microsoft Bing Search division. Panopto’s presentation capture and broadcast technology is in use at hundreds of universities and colleges worldwide, as well as Fortune 500 companies like Microsoft, Yahoo and Genentech. With over 3 million licensed users the business has grown very rapidly—largely through word of mouth—and is now ready to invest in expanding its client base globally.
Panopto Europe has just opened an office in London, UK and is looking for talented and motivated people to join the European start-up team.
The Job
Panopto is setting up a new office in London and is looking to recruit two sales reps to expand its client base in Education and help lead its entry into new markets in enterprise, government and healthcare.
You will receive full product training, working closely with colleagues in the US and will then be expected to:
- Follow up sales leads by telephone and email
- Give product demonstrations using video conferencing and online meeting software
- Answer basic technical questions directly, find the answer or refer client to the appropriate person in Panopto to ensure all questions are answered fully, accurately and in a timely manner
- Use CRM software to track prospects and produce reports
- Log queries and feed in suggestions for future product development
- Attend trade shows and conferences as required to meet existing and potential clients and give face to face presentations
- Achieve annual and quarterly sales quotas
The Person
The successful candidates will be commercially driven self-starters able to progress and close sales as well as contribute creatively to the development of Panopto EU.
Essential attributes:
- Educated to degree level with at least three years’ sales experience
- Experience in software or a related industry
- Well organised
- Team player with excellent presentation and communication skills
- Excited by the possibilities and benefits of Panopto’s award-winning technology and able to contribute to the company’s overall development
Salary
An attractive basic salary plus substantial bonus is available to the right people.
Panopto is always on the lookout for good engineers that have Windows Media / DirectShow background with strong generalist skills and fluency with cutting-edge media technologies. Candidates should be able to rapidly transition between roles, manage and implement large areas of functionality, and carry designs from proof-of-concept to release-quality software. The position requires extensive experience working with streaming video files, formats, transports and players.
