New Zealand’s Ara Institute of Canterbury Selects Panopto as Its Video Content Management and Lecture Capture Platform

May 5, 2017 – SYDNEY – Panopto, a leading video platform for higher education, today announced that it has been awarded a 3-year contract by New Zealand’s Ara Institute of Canterbury, replacing the institute’s existing Echo360 system.

Ara selected Panopto to facilitate more interactive classroom experiences for the institution’s nearly 19,000 students. With Panopto, Ara teaching staff will be able to more easily record lectures and flipped classroom lessons, utilise video for student assignments and feedback, and leverage interactive in-video quizzing to move their classrooms from passive learning models to more active learner engagement.

“We’re constantly looking for technologies that will enhance students’ learning experiences,” said Mark Marshall, ICT Director at Ara. “We selected Panopto to provide staff and students with a complete and flexible video platform capable of meeting the demands of our ever-evolving learning models.”

“In working with academic institutions worldwide we’ve seen the valuable role video plays in enhancing student experiences and achievement,” said Tom Davy, Managing Director, Panopto Global. “We’re looking forward to a successful rollout with Ara, and to becoming a part of their active learning environment.”

The institute’s adoption of the Panopto video platform expands the company’s presence in Australia and New Zealand. Panopto ‘s other Australasian customers include Mater Education, Barker College, Carnegie Mellon University Australia, Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network, the Tasmanian Department of Education and the University of Waikato.
