Panopto was born in Pittsburgh in 2007, a technology transfer from the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University. Not long after, along with so many other adoptive citizens of the Emerald City, we opened the doors to our new office in Seattle’s historic Pioneer Square. In 2015 we made it official, establishing our headquarters on the 16th floor of the Smith Tower (the tallest building west of the Mississippi between 1914 and 1931).

As a technology company, we count ourselves lucky to be in a great neighborhood. Chances are you’re reading this post on a Microsoft Windows laptop someone purchased on Amazon, but even beyond the big names there’s no end to the incredible tools the Jet City now produces. Zillow is reinventing real estate. Tableau has reimagined analytics. Blue Origin, Porch, Zulily, PayScale, Moz, F5, DocuSign — hey, even Google is out here working on cars that drive themselves.

So we were pretty honored that of the more than 17,000 companies based in Seattle, today crowdsourced competitive intelligence platform Owler named Panopto a winner of the 2016 HOT in Seattle Award.

Owler’s HOT Awards recognize the top trending companies in cities around the world, sifting through over 15 million companies to find the most award-worthy businesses. Winners are chosen based on several different metrics, including insights collected from the platform, social media, and posts over the past year.

As a winner, Panopto scored above 99.5% of companies here in the Queen City.
