This Week In Ideas Shared With A Panopto Video — July 3, 2014

We’re taking a holiday.

Tomorrow is July 4th, and here in Panopto’s Seattle and Pittsburgh offices that means we’ll be out, celebrating Independence Day in America.

But like virtually every company these days, some of us will still be hard at work. Our UK and China offices will still hum, of course, as well as our customer service team, always on call. And just as will happen at most companies tomorrow, almost certainly someone will have a question — how a technical detail works, or where something needs to be filed.

For many companies, when the person who knows the answer to that question is out, there’s only one solution:

Wait.

But that doesn’t always have to be the case. Here at Panopto and the hundreds of other companies that use video to record and share, if a team member has a question the first step isn’t to call the subject matter expert — it’s to check the video library to see if the answer has already been documented there.

Most of the time, everything we’ll need can be found with a quick video search — meaning we’re never more than a play button away from the answer, even if our expert is out on the beach.

More and more organizations are seeing the value of capturing knowledge and sharing it with video. This week we saw ever more educational and entertaining recordings among the latest presentations shared online with the Panopto video platform. And in the spirit of passing it on, these are just a few of the ideas shared this week with Panopto’s multi-camera video recording software.
