1611년에 설립된 University of Santo Tomas(UST)는 등록 기준으로 세계에서 가장 큰 가톨릭 대학교 중 하나입니다. UST는 지속적으로 성장하는 강력한 명성을 가지고 있습니다. 현재 고등 교육 위원회(Commission on Higher Education)에서 자율 대학으로 인정하여 정부 규제를 줄이면서 선구적인 프로그램을 실행할 수 있습니다.
COVID-19 대유행이 발생했을 때 대학은 모든 사람을 온라인으로 전환해야 했으며, 그 결과 수업 자료, 수업 및 평가의 재설계를 지원하는 새로운 전략을 구현해야 했습니다. 또한 필리핀의 불안정한 인터넷 연결은 학생들이 온라인 학습 자료에 액세스하려고 할 때 때때로 불리한 상황에 직면함을 의미했습니다.
해결책
원격 교육으로의 전환과 함께 UST는 비디오를 통해 대화형, 접근 가능 및 매력적인 비동기 학습 경험을 제공하는 도구로 Panopto를 구현했습니다.
“We introduced Panopto as our newest tool in the university cloud campus and we highlighted its key features – recording our live sessions [and] synching it to our learning management system for later viewing,” says Shane Alexander Laong, Team Leader – Training, UST.

새로운 혼합 학습 접근 방식의 결과로 UST는 학생과 교직원 모두의 요구에 맞는 다양한 교수 및 학습 전략을 통합할 수 있었습니다. 비디오를 녹화할 수 있는 안전한 환경을 제공하는 것부터 참여와 피드백을 극대화하기 위한 비동기식 솔루션을 제공하여 인터넷 연결이 제한된 학생들이 뒤처지지 않도록 하는 것까지 그 영향은 지대했습니다.
“For the asynchronous sessions, using Panopto we can curate videos, we can edit videos, we can record them as additional learning materials so that the students will be able to know more about the topics, even the tasks, for this subject matter,” says Mena Angela M.
