Check This [EDIT] Out

Panopto makes it easy for your organization to record, share, and search video. But what happens if your video doesn’t turn out perfect?

Most don’t. What you need is a video editor for basic adjustments that’s so easy to use anyone can do it.

We designed Panopto’s video editor to balance simplicity and functionality — to give you a tool to quickly edit your recordings without the complicated, experts-only software. See how it works, in our video below:

Panopto’s video editing tool is web-based, meaning you don’t have to install heavyweight client software. It also means that you can make changes to your videos from nearly anywhere.

Once you’ve opened a video in the Panopto editor, there are a number of changes you can make with just a few clicks of your mouse:

  • Trimming your video as easily as clicking and dragging your mouse. Quickly remove unneeded material from the start or end of your recordings, or cut out unwanted segments in the middle. You can even use our Save-As feature to trim one long video into multiple segments or chapters.

  • Splice another video into your existing video. Add in video bumpers or include other video content with just a few clicks.

  • Synchronize video and slides even after your recording is complete. If you already have a video of your presenter and their slide deck, you can use Panopto’s editor to combine the two into an engaging video presentation.

  • Switch between multiple camera angles. If you’ve recorded with more than one camera, the Panopto editor is where you can switch between your video streams to ensure that the most important view is shown to your audience.

  • Add captions to your videos to assist deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals, and to improve inside-video search. Automatic transcription services are also available.

  • Embed quizzes and surveys. Anything that can be rendered on a web page can be incorporated into a Panopto recording — giving you a place to include interactive quizzes, polls, and other live web content directly within the Panopto viewer.

Just as important as what Panopto’s video editor does is what it doesn’t do.

Panopto uses what’s called “non-destructive” editing, which saves your original video in an archival format, regardless of any edits you make. So if you make a mistake, no problem – just click Revert, and you’ve got your original video back.

Panopto also supports 3rd party video editors.  If you are looking for a powerful video editor that easily creates more polished videos, check out Camtasia.  With Camtasia, you can export videos directly to your Panopto library with one click.

Panopto’s video editor makes it easy for any member of your team to produce quality video from any web browser. Want to try it for yourself? Sign up for a free trial of Panopto today.
