Boston, MA and Pittsburgh, PA, May 11, 2011 — Pearson, the world’s leading learning company, and Panopto today announced an agreement whereby Pearson will distribute Panopto’s award-winning lecture capture software to a private sector and other institutions of higher education.
Panopto is an easy-to-use technology that enables educators and students to record, organize and share lectures and skills labs that combine media-rich applications. Faculty have the ability to record a complete string of lectures on a series of difficult concepts or skills, while students can use Panopto’s search engine to find the exact concepts they need to review, creating a personalized learning experience. Students can review complex material multiple times and on multiple devices desktop, laptop, Smartphone or iPad which is especially beneficial to keep students engaged as more institutions embrace blended learning models that combine face-to-face with flexible online learning options.
Pearson complements Panopto with its institutional and course-specific learning solutions. With this partnership, Pearson will work directly with administrators and faculty to integrate Panopto into their program offerings and curriculum.
“Of all areas of learning, higher education is most actively looking for solutions that enrich the learning experience and increase student retention and success,” said Steve Zlotnick, president for Panopto NA. “Panopto is a perfect match for the personalized learning tools and platforms that are a hallmark of Pearson’s solutions in higher education.”
“We are committed to creating access to personalized learning opportunities that support students with multiple learning styles. With the addition of lecture capture to our service offerings, students can receive assistance with their studies anytime, anywhere increasing their level of engagement with the course material and thus improving their achievement and retention,” said Don Kilburn, CEO of Pearson Learning Solutions.
Panopto recently received top honors from the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) as “Most Innovative Product/Service” and “Product Most Likely to Succeed in the Education Market.”
