Panopto and Epiphan Video launch first PTZ camera certified as a Panopto remote recorder

Epiphan’s EC20 camera enables direct-to-Panopto recording across learning spaces with simplified workflows.

At Panopto Innovate EMEA 2026, Europe’s largest gathering of university video learning professionals, Panopto, the global leader in video-based learning and knowledge sharing, and Epiphan Video announced the availability of the EC20, the world’s first Panopto-certified PTZ camera. The EC20 connects directly to Panopto’s Video Knowledge Platform as a remote recorder, expanding flexible deployment options without requiring changes to existing encoder setups.

“Teaching extends far beyond the traditional lecture hall into seminar rooms, simulation labs, and collaborative spaces that have historically been difficult to equip for video capture,” said Kuljit Dharni, Chief Product Officer at Panopto. “Our customers asked for a direct-to-camera remote recording solution to complement our certified appliances. This partnership delivers exactly that, providing institutions with a flexible, affordable way to capture high-quality content in any environment where learning happens.”

Purpose-built for lecture capture, Epiphan’s EC20 camera features a 4K CMOS sensor, 20× optical zoom, and AI auto-tracking with Presenter and Zone modes. A single Ethernet cable delivers power (PoE+), Dante audio over IP, and direct streaming to Panopto. An integrated LCD screen simplifies device setup, while Epiphan Edge cloud management enables secure recording and deployment at scale.

“The EC20 represents a major step forward in simplifying lecture capture,” said Yusupha Touray, VP of Product at Epiphan Video. “As the first certified PTZ camera of its kind, it gives Panopto customers confidence with a deeply integrated solution, reducing barriers to adoption while delivering consistent, high-quality video across every learning environment without compromise.”

“With flexible connectivity and control, the EC20 simplifies camera deployment across classrooms and collaboration spaces while delivering reliable, broadcast-quality video,” said Troy Powers, AV Systems Support Lead at Northwestern University. “The EC20 works seamlessly within Panopto workflows, giving instructors consistent, high-quality video without adding complexity. When integrated with Panopto, the EC20 truly delivers a ‘set it and forget it’ lecture capture experience.”

The Epiphan EC20 is available now from Epiphan and its authorized channel partners worldwide, with Panopto Remote Recorder integration available as a free firmware update on May 11. Both companies will demonstrate the certified solution live at Panopto Innovate EMEA 2026.
