How associations use Panopto

Member education and retention

Turn conference recordings into a searchable knowledge library

Keynotes, workshops, and session recordings that used to have a one-day shelf life become a searchable on-demand library accessible year-round. Members find specific topics and moments inside any recording—without watching full sessions.

Non-dues revenue

Open a new revenue channel with content you already have

Your conference is likely your largest single revenue driver—but most of that value disappears once the sessions end. Panopto Connect lets you gate and sell on-demand access to non-member audiences, turning existing content into an ongoing revenue stream instead of a one-time event.

Certification candidate preparation

Help candidates succeed between enrollment and exam

A searchable video prep library—replayable at the exact moment candidates need it, with embedded knowledge checks to reinforce understanding—gives candidates a better path to certification. Analytics reveal which topics candidates struggle with, where they disengage, and which modules they revisit most—helping you improve programs before exam results come back.

Protect premium member content

Protect your IP without restricting access for members who’ve earned it

Role-based access controls and branded portals ensure members, partners, and paying learners each see only what they’re entitled to. Logo watermarking and permissioned delivery through Panopto Connect protect proprietary content from informal sharing—while giving authorized audiences a seamless, professional experience.

Member engagement analytics

See what members actually watch and finish

Know which programs members return to, where they lose interest, and which topics drive the most engagement. Instead of relying on attendance numbers alone, you’ll have evidence that your educational programs continue delivering value long after the event ends.

Seamlessly integrate with your systems

Built to fit your existing stack, not replace it. Panopto integrates with the platforms your organization already runs—your AMS, LMS, and the tools you use to capture live sessions—so adopting Panopto doesn’t mean abandoning what already works.

How associations put Panopto to work

Frequently asked questions

How does Panopto help associations grow non-dues revenue?

Panopto Connect enables associations to create permissioned portals for non-member audiences—so webinar recordings, conference sessions, and certification prep content can be gated and sold as paid on-demand programs. Engagement analytics provide the usage data needed to price programs, validate demand, and present a clear ROI case to the board. Non-dues revenue has been a top financial priority for associations for several consecutive years; Panopto gives teams the content infrastructure to act on it.

Can members access content without creating a separate Panopto account?

Yes. Panopto supports SSO, which means members can access content through their existing credentials—whether that’s your association management system, a community platform, or another identity layer. The specific integration depends on your existing tech stack; Panopto works with your IT team to confirm the right approach for your environment before implementation. Read more about our integrations here.

Does Panopto replace our LMS or AMS?

No. Panopto is the video content management and delivery layer. Your LMS manages course assignments, enrollment, and completion tracking; your AMS manages membership, dues, and member communications. Panopto connects to both—making video searchable, governed, and analytically rich in ways those platforms aren’t designed to handle on their own. Read more about our integrations here.

Does Panopto track CE credit hours for accreditation purposes?

Panopto tracks viewer-level engagement and completion data, but it is not a compliance-grade CE credit tracking system. It cannot record or report CE hours in a format that satisfies a regulatory body or accreditation standard. Panopto is the content layer that sits alongside your CE tracking system—delivering the learning experience that prepares candidates and providing the engagement data that helps you improve it.

How do we prevent non-members from accessing content shared via a link?

Access in Panopto is governed by identity, not URL. Even if a link is shared externally, non-authorized users cannot view the content without the appropriate credentials or permissions. Branded Connect portals allow you to define exactly who can access which content—members, specific membership tiers, paying learners, or partners—with full visibility into access activity. Read more about our security here.

Will on-demand access reduce attendance at our live events?

The evidence from organizations that have made this shift points the other way. Members attend live events for interaction, networking, and the credential of being present—not solely because it’s the only way to see the content. On-demand access reinforces that value: members who know they can return to a session engage more fully during it. What on-demand does reduce is the need to repeat live delivery of the same material to different cohorts—which is the delivery cost worth reducing. Associations that have withheld recordings to protect attendance typically see lower overall engagement, not higher.

Is Panopto a good fit for a small association team?

Yes. Panopto is used by associations with small operations teams who need to reduce the administrative burden of managing content scattered across Zoom archives, shared drives, and LMS portals. Once content is in Panopto, it’s searchable, permissioned, and accessible without manual intervention—reducing ongoing support requests and content management overhead. AI Video Studio also enables small teams to produce new video programs from existing materials without a production team or recording studio.
