January 23, 2018 — SEATTLE — Panopto, a leading video platform provider for higher education, today announced that 20 of the 25 top universities on the Times Higher Education World University 2018 Rankings, including three of the top four and seven of the top ten, use Panopto for lecture capture and video content management. Additionally, 19 of the top 25 universities on the 2018 US News & World Report Best Global Universities Rankings also use Panopto’s video platform.

“Since Panopto’s early days as a research project at Carnegie Mellon University, we have focused on building the easiest and most searchable video platform for instructors, learners, and administrators,” said Eric Burns, co-founder and CEO of Panopto. “Academic institutions have many options for supporting video on campus, and we’re honored that so many have chosen Panopto.”

In recent years, universities have been moving away from isolated departmental video solutions and toward unified platforms that facilitate campus-wide video content management and recording. In this shift, Panopto has emerged as the leader in higher education video, providing customers with easy deployment, scalable video delivery, integrations with all major learning management systems, flexible video capture, the industry’s most comprehensive video search engine, and top-rated customer support.

For more than ten years, university faculty and staff have used Panopto to securely manage their digital video libraries, record and share lectures, and capture student assignments in video format. The video platform is also used outside of the classroom to live stream campus events and to record university communications and training activities.
