AI is now part of that picture. Institutions face pressure to take a position, even as its best uses in education are still emerging.
Students have already made up their minds. They rely on video, expect it in every course, and report that it saves them time and improves their grades. What they expect from it keeps expanding: search that reaches individual concepts, practice material generated from what was taught, and a second explanation for concepts that need more than one approach.
Many are already studying with AI, and their habits vary. Some of those habits support learning. Others replace parts of the process, like generating an answer instead of working through it. The difference can be hard to see from outside the classroom.
